Turn Your Gum Into Origami Art - Gum Flower

As a motivation not to spit your gum into the street, designer Jung-taek Choi has created the Gum Flower. The Gum Flower’s wrapper is a piece of origami. Once you are done with your gum, you fold the wrapper into a cute little origami flower and put the gum inside the flower. Now you have a colorful piece of art instead of a disgusting sticky gum on the street. It also provides a fun alternative to sticking the gum under the desk for kids at school.

California town's origami cranes help Virginia Tech heal

In the aftermath of an angry student's murderous rampage on the Virginia Tech campus last April, people tried to make sense of the senseless — and offered their help.

What can we do? What can we send? The university's response: Send paper cranes. Send symbols of peace and hope.

In Japanese tradition, the person who folds 1,000 origami cranes is granted a wish, such as for prosperity or good health. They're given at weddings and to the gravely ill.

Father's Day Origami

Surprise Dad this Father's Day with some origami! We have collected together on this page a number of simple origami models which the kids will enjoy folding and decorating. Here are some ideas for using them:

-Make a variety of models and string them together for a mobile or banner
-Use to decorate a special Father's Day card, or as gift tags on a Father's Day gift
-Decorate the breakfast table (or give Dad breakfast in bed with an origami surprise on the breakfast tray).
